This time ISSAI visited main university of Aqtobe region: Aqtobe regional university named after K. Zhubanov under the ISSAI outreach to regional universities initiative.
During the seminar our Technical project coordinator Yerbol Absalyamov introduced the audience (undergrad. and graduate students, researchers and faculty from computer science, physics and math departments and also department of science and commercialization) to the ISSAI’s mission and research activities, explained the technical features and parameters of its AI computational resources and the way of conducting research using NVIDIA DGX-1 and 2, the ability of having a remote access, and the possible exchange of researchers for collaborative research. Several examples on how we use, for instance, DGX-2 on our projects related to NLP, Computer vision were provided.
During the seminar audience raised questions and discussions about projects related to the implementation of AI in gas and oil sector (for instance, Professor Shunkeyev Kuanyshbek has projects about efficient methodologies and logistics to transfer the oil in Western parts of Kazakhstan), machine learning approaches, and mostly NLP oriented aspects.
Zhubanov university has optimistic intention to use DGX resources for their research projects and willingness to participate ISSAI’s Summer research program 2024.
ISSAI hopes on fruitful cooperation with Zhubanov university to increase the country’s AI research expertise and capacity.
