Following the successful development of the Soyle app, KazLLM and the recent release of Oylan, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University (NU) was honored to be invited to speak at the 2nd International Symposium “Kazakh Language – Scientific Language: Artificial Intelligence and Terminology.” The event brought together leading experts, researchers, and innovators to discuss the future of AI and scientific communication in the Kazakh language.
As a strong advocate for bridging cutting-edge research with academia, ISSAI consistently emphasizes its commitment to expanding outreach across Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. These collaborations are vital for fostering an innovative and sustainable AI ecosystem, while also reinforcing Kazakhstan’s growing leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.
On April 2nd, Executive director of ISSAI Absalyamov Yerbol had the privilege of being a panel speaker in the session titled “AI and Scientific Communication in the Kazakh Language” moderated and organized by Til-Qazyna National Scientific and Practical Center named after Shaisultan Shayakhmetov. Yerbol Absalyamov shared insights into ISSAI’s overarching mission, highlighted our latest advancements, including Soyle app, KazLLM, Oylan, and upcoming multimodal models and concluded the session with a live demonstration of Soyle app and Oylan. The audience, composed of linguists, international guests, students, faculty, and AI enthusiasts, responded with great interest and enthusiasm toward the projects and vision of ISSAI.
Throughout the first day, Yerbol Absalyamov was engaged in discussions with numerous attendees, providing in-depth explanations of the Soyle App—a powerful, multi-functional tool for speech recognition, voice synthesis, and translation across Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish—and Oylan, advanced language vision model capable of processing both images and text in four languages.
Several regional universities expressed interest in joint efforts, including potential grant applications and involvement in SRP 2025, and sought guidance on various AI-related topics. These conversations reflect a growing national momentum toward AI adoption and research.
In conclusion, the symposium demonstrated a clear and growing interest in ISSAI’s work. Many participants attended specifically to learn more about the Institute’s innovations, with widespread support for strategic approach to building AI systems like Aibike, Soyle, KazLLM, and Oylan.
ISSAI remains fully committed to advancing artificial intelligence for the Kazakh language and supporting the development of local and regional AI communities. We are always open to new collaborations and firmly believe that together, we can build a thriving ecosystem of knowledge, innovation, and impact.
