ISSAI participates in IRCAI AI UNESCO Center Launch

On March 29-30th 2021 ISSAI members have participated in the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) official launch as a virtual conference. The conference has been organized by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, and the UNESCO. IRCAI has officially been established in Ljubljana city, Republic of Slovenia.

During the conference there were opening remarks from H.E. Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, H.E. Mr. Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia, Prof. John Shawe-Taylor, Executive Director, IRCAI. Among the participants there were UNESCO member states’ representatives, and other experts on AI.

During the conference main information and goals of the IRCAI were announces which is to develop artificial isntelligence-based tools, products and services to help UNESCO member states accelerate their efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Legal, ethical, economic and societal implications of these technologies will be addressed to make AI fair, transparent, and ethical. Researchers will be provided access to data, tools, services, platforms and indicators relevant to AI.

Its mission is to cover the vertical from research, to implementation and policy input showcasing unbiased, rigorous, and comprehensive dialogue for policymakers, researchers, journalists, executives, and the general public to develop a deeper understanding of the complex field of AI.
