ISSAI Data Scientist Saida Mussakhojayeva presents the Kazakh Speech Corpus 2 at INTERSPEECH 2022

ISSAI Data Scientist Saida Mussakhojayeva presented ISSAI’s recent project—Kazakh Speech Corpus 2 (KSC2): An Industrial-Scale Open-Source Kazakh Speech Corpus by Saida Mussakhojayeva, Yerbolat Khassanov and Huseyin Atakan Varol—at the 23rd INTERSPEECH conference held in Incheon, Republic of Korea from September 18 to 22.

INTERSPEECH is the world’s largest and most comprehensive conference on the science and technology of spoken language processing. INTERSPEECH conferences emphasize interdisciplinary approaches addressing all aspects of speech science and technology, ranging from basic theory to advanced applications. This year the conference was held in Songdo ConvensiA, in Incheon, Korea, under the theme “Human and Humanizing Speech Technology”.

The conference theme “Human and Humanizing Speech Technology” formulates the vision of the scientific and industrial community to commit endeavors to continue the effort in speech science toward humanizing the spoken language technology, so the impact becomes a game changer that goes beyond the current state-of-the-art and ultimately benefits society as a whole.

Keynote speakers of the conference included Lin-shan Lee (Taiwan University Chair Professor, National Taiwan University), Yejin Choi (Brett Helsel Professor at the University of Washington and Senior Research Manager at AI2), Rupal Patel (Vice President, Voice & Accessibility, Veritone) and Daniel Dongyuel Lee (Executive Vice President at Samsung Research and Tisch University Professor at Cornell Tech).

The conference also featured industry guest speakers from organizations like Amazon, Google, LG AI Research, Kakao Enterprise, Samsung Research, LOVO, Supertone, Hyundai Motor Company, Datatang and others.
