On September 29, Professor Fuad Hajiyev who has contributed tremendously to IT education in his career, together with his colleagues from ADA University (Baku, Azerbaijan) visited Nazarbayev University. During the visit, ADA University delegation were informed about the current projects of ISSAI in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and data science. ISSAI Founding director Dr. Atakan Varol and Technical project coordinator Absalyamov Yerbol presented the Institute’s research work, which included information on AI technologies for the Kazakh language, computer vision projects, face detection projects, augmented reality projects and computational resources.
Postdoctoral scholar Azamat Yeshmukhametov also presented the tensegrity robots. The tensegrity robots are an emerging technology that combines the principles of tensegrity structures with robotics. They are highly adaptable and can be used for a range of applications, including exploration, inspection, and monitoring.
PhD student Zhanat Makhataeva presented her project about Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The research she does is about to create an external representation of objects and pave the way for the development of AR-based assistive technologies for individuals with memory impairments (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease).
Professor Fuad Hajiyev and his colleagues were very impressed with the visit to Nazarbayev University and ISSAI in particular. Parties will work on potential collaboration in AI related projects, students and researchers exchange for research development.
