Newly appointed President of the National Academy of Sciences visited ISSAI

The new President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Akhylbek Kurishbayev visited ISSAI on 8th of February. During this visit, ISSAI’s postdoctoral researcher Dr. Azamat Yeshmukhametov presented his work on tensegrity robots. These cutting-edge robots utilize tensegrity principles to achieve high adaptability, making them suitable for a range of uses including exploration and monitoring. Then a postdoctoral researcher Zhanat Makhataeva shared her work on a project involving Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on external object representation and the advancement of AR-assisted technology to aid people with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Yerbol Absalyamov, the Deputy Director of Operations at ISSAI, showcased the Institute’s research initiatives to the visitors, emphasizing progress in AI for the Kazakh language, computer vision, facial recognition technology, and augmented reality innovations.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Mr. Akhylbek Kurishbayev, who is also a former Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was impressed with the level of research projects at the Institute. He proposed that collaboration between the ISSAI and the agricultural sector could be productive.
