On 15th May, ISSAI members, including senior data scientist Zhanat Makhataeva and  data scientist Batyr Arystanbekov, participated online in the MedInnovations Forum within the framework of the 29th Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Healthcare” – KIHE 2024 organized in Almaty by ITECA Kazakhstan Exhibition Company.   

During the forum, Batyr Arystanbekov delivered his presentation on Image Captioning for the Visually Impaired and Blind. He presented an overview of two projects developed by him during his Masters at NU on assistive wearable systems helping blind and people who have low vision to understand the surrounding environment. 

Dr. Zhanat Makhataeva presented her talk on “Augmented Reality for Cognitive Impairments”. She presented the ExoMem System, Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) – enhanced human memory augmentation system. Also, she overviewed the perception related cognitive impairment related with vision and hearing, as well as the AR and AI enhanced wearable solution developed in the literature.

KIHE 2024 is one of the largest events presenting achievements in the field of scientific and practical medicine in Central Asia. Every year the exhibition gathers doctors of various specialties, pharmacists and entrepreneurs from different countries.
