ISSAI paper on thermal pose estimation presented at the IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition

The IEEE Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG) conference is the premier international conference for research in image and video-based face, gesture, and body movement recognition. This IEEE FG is co-sponsored by IEEE Biometrics Council and IEEE Computer Society. Its broad scope includes advances in fundamental computer vision, pattern recognition, and computer graphics; machine learning techniques relevant to face, gesture, and body motion; interdisciplinary research on behavioral analysis; new algorithms and applications.

The 18th FG conference was held between 27 and 31 May 2024 at the Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey. ISSAI Senior data scientist, Askat Kuzdeuov, presented a paper entitled “OpenThermalPose: An Open-Source Annotated Thermal Human Pose Dataset and Initial YOLOv8-Pose Baselines” (Askat Kuzdeuov, Darya Taratynova, Alim Tleuliyev, and Huseyin Atakan Varol) in both poster and oral sessions. Our work was selected as one of the best reviewed papers by the Program Chairs. This external recognition once again highlights the high quality of ISSAI’s work.

We have made the dataset, source code, and pre-trained models publicly available at https://github.com/IS2AI/OpenThermalPose to bolster research in this area.
