On August 15, 2024, newly appointed NU President Professor Waqar Ahmad visited the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) branch office in Almaty. During the visit the ISSAI team in Almaty presented Professor Waqar ISSAI’s history, structure, key projects and developments. ISSAI data scientist Ulzhan Bissarinova and IT product manager Aikerim Bissarinova explained the main functions of the Product Development Office, highlighting how AI models developed by ISSAI will be transformed into interactive applications for public release.
Discussions between President Waqar and the ISSAI team members also covered research and educational domains. He expressed his gratitude for ISSAI’s contributions to Kazakhstan’s economic and scientific development and its efforts in addressing social problems. He wished the ISSAI team success.
This visit was part of Professor Ahmad’s official trip to Almaty. He also met with representatives from the Nazarbayev Fund and NU Almaty Office.
