On September 16, 2024, Stanford University released its annual ranking of the world’s most cited scientists. According to the ranking, Founding Director ISSAI, Prof. Atakan Varol is listed among the top 2% of scientists globally.

The ranking includes two lists: one for career-long achievement data and another for citations received during the year 2023. The results are based on bibliometric data from the Scopus database, which tracks over 180000 leading scientists. The systematic bibliometric study was conducted by a team from Stanford University, led by Prof. John Loannidis. In total, 27 researchers from Nazarbayev University are included in the ranking.
