Aknur Karabay, a key member of ISSAI since 2019, has concluded her work at the institute. After a five-year period of significant contributions to ISSAI research projects, Ms. Karabay will commence her Phd studies at the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) university in Switzerland.
Aknur graduated from Nazarbayev University in 2018 with the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering degree. In 2018 she started her Master’s degree at the University of Glasgow in Structural Engineering. In 2022 she was accepted into the prestigious TechWoman program, an experience-sharing and mentoring program for women in the STEM area, initiated by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
During her time at ISSAI, Ms. Karabay played a crucial role in many projects on epidemic simulation, AI-based structural design, and nutrition AI, resulting in publications in top scientific journals. The ISSAI extends its best wishes to Ms. Karabay as she starts this exciting new chapter of her academic journey.
