The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) congratulates the people of Kazakhstan on Independence Day! This day has become a wonderful embodiment of the nation’s freedom, strength, and commitment to development and innovation. Throughout years of independence, Kazakhstan has transformed from a young republic into a dynamically developing state, confidently looking towards the future. Today, our country is actively integrating into the global community, becoming a leader in digitalization in Central Asia. Artificial intelligence, as one of the key technologies of the future, plays an increasingly important role in this process.

We express our deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for his strategic vision and tremendous support for the development of innovation in our country. On December 11, 2024, our Institute successfully presented the ISSAI KAZ-LLM model to the public of Kazakhstan – a Kazakh large language model with 8 and 70 billion parameters. The ISSAI KAZ-LLM is designed to generate content in Kazakhstan’s three most relevant languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English, while also supporting Turkish as a representative of the broader Turkic family of languages, enabling it to bridge language gaps and advance generative artificial intelligence for low-resource languages. The model plays a significant role in preserving and promoting Kazakhstan’s cultural code and heritage, reflecting the country’s unique identity.

We are convinced that artificial intelligence will become a driver of Kazakhstan’s development in the coming years, and ISSAI is ready to contribute to achieving this goal.
