On February 24, 2025, the Institute for Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University welcomed Prof. Urmat Attokurov from Osh Technological University in Kyrgyzstan.

During his visit, Professor Attokurov engaged with ISSAI representatives to learn more about the institute’s ongoing projects, research initiatives, and technological advancements. ISSAI’s Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov demonstrated the work of the Soyle App and the Oylan Language Vision Model. The discussion focused on potential areas of partnership, including joint research and collaborative technological development.

“We are excited about the possibility of working together with Osh Technological University. This visit has opened doors for future research cooperation and knowledge sharing,” said ISSAI’s Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov.

He also encouraged students from Osh Technological University to participate in ISSAI’s Summer Research Program (SRP), highlighting that in previous years, the program welcomed not only local participants but also students from Uzbekistan and other countries, providing them with valuable experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, data algorithms, and related fields.

Professor Attokurov expressed his appreciation for ISSAI’s work and highlighted the significance of strengthening ties between the university and the institute to drive innovation and technological progress. He also suggested that, as a first step toward collaboration, the parties could begin by developing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) models for the Kyrgyz language, since, in his opinion ISSAI is top-notch AI institute in the region for speech technologies and generative AI.

Following the discussions, Azamat Yeshmukhametov, Head of the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory (ARMS), provided a guided tour of the lab, showcasing its latest projects and innovations.

The meeting concluded with both Parties expressing interest in further discussions to formalize a partnership that would benefit students, researchers, and the broader academic community. This partnership aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and enhance cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and smart technologies.
