ISSAI Experts Participate in the Stand-Conference on Linguistic Foundations of Creative Industries

On March 17, 2025, representatives from the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) took part in the stand-conference “Linguistic Foundations of Creative Industries: Research and Developments,” organized by the A. Baitursynuly Institute of Linguistics under the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan. The event was held in Astana and gathered leading experts, policymakers, and researchers dedicated to advancing linguistic studies and digital language technologies. Among the esteemed guests invited to the event were ISSAI representatives Yerbol Absalyamov, Rustem Yeshpanov, and Aigerim Sarsenova. 

Dr. Anar Fazylzhanova, Director of the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics, presented the institute’s recent scientific achievements and appreciated ISSAI’s contribution to the development of the Kazakh language, while Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek emphasized the role of digital transformation in language preservation. “Language is a living organism—it grows and develops. The younger generation is contributing to its evolution. Developing language in a digital format is a prerequisite for keeping it alive. It is encouraging to see the younger generation actively contributing to this evolution,” he stated.

During the conference, Minister Sayasat Nurbek mentioned the completion of the first phase of KazLLM, a Kazakh large language model under the leadership of Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence at Nazarbayev University. Entities like Til-Qazyna and  A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics contributed as well by providing some data in Kazakh language. 

The event brought together representatives from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, as well as policymakers, scholars, educators, journalists, and students. Attendees expressed their belief that AI-powered linguistic tools will play a crucial role in strengthening national identity and fostering sustainable development in Kazakhstan.
