On April 9, 2025, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University welcomed a group of professors and researchers from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The visit provided an opportunity for the guests to learn more about ISSAI’s ongoing research and development projects, particularly those focused on artificial intelligence applications in education, language technologies, and digital transformation.
The team at ISSAI presented key initiatives aimed at advancing technological solutions and digital tools to support science and education. Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager, introduced the guests to the mission and activities of the Institute, highlighting current efforts related to Kazakh-language content development and digital linguistics in a multilingual context.
Rakhat Meiramov, Data Scientist at ISSAI, shared hands-on demonstrations that showcased ISSAI’s AI-powered tools tailored to the Kazakh language. Their work reflected the growing importance of AI in preserving and developing linguistic and cultural heritage.
In addition, Aliya Tussupova, Senior PR Manager at ISSAI, presented the Institute’s Summer Research Program (SRP), outlining opportunities for student engagement and academic exchange.
Among the visiting scholars were Dr. Sholpan Zharkynbekova, Professor of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, as well as faculty members from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. These included Evgenia Tuchkevich, a Senior Lecturer and expert in AI-driven design and media communication; Maya Bernavskaya, Associate Professor and researcher in digital linguistics and education technologies; and Evgenia Vorontsova, Senior Lecturer specializing in digital humanities and AI linguistics.
The guests expressed strong interest in ISSAI’s research directions and commended the practical orientation of its projects. Discussions during the visit focused on potential areas for collaboration in the field of AI for the humanities, language modeling, and the integration of neural network technologies into academic research and teaching.
