Latest AI Innovations of ISSAI Showcased at the NU Embassy Day 2025

On November 21, 2025, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) presented its latest advancements in artificial intelligence during Nazarbayev University’s Embassy Day 2025. The event gathered ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from across Astana to strengthen partnerships and explore future collaboration opportunities with the University.

This year’s Embassy Day featured remarks from NU President Dr. Waqar Ahmad, Provost Prof. Rehan Sadiq, Vice President Dr. Kadisha Dairova, and Vice President Dr. Assel Uvaliyeva, who introduced the University’s strategic vision, academic programs, and opportunities for international students.

As part of the agenda, Dr. Huseyin Atakan Varol, Founding Director of ISSAI, presented the Institute’s newest multimodal AI technologies. He highlighted updated versions of ISSAI’s core products, including MangiSoz 2.1, which delivers accurate multilingual speech and text translation with voice synthesis, and OCR (Optical Character Recognition); Oylan 2.5, an advanced audio-vision-language model offering deep multimodal reasoning, visual analysis, and integrated web search; and Beynele 2.0, a high-fidelity multilingual image generator capable of producing culturally grounded, realistic, and artistic visuals.

ISSAI also introduced Qolda, a compact 4B-parameter open-source language-vision model optimized for laptops and smartphones. With strong performance in Kazakh, Russian, and English, Qolda brings powerful AI capabilities to researchers, developers, students, and small businesses without the need for high-end hardware.

During the live demonstration, ISSAI Data Scientist Rakhat Meiramov showcased real-time use cases of these technologies, illustrating live transcription, multilingual translation, multimodal reasoning, and identity-preserving image generation. The demo emphasized the models’ improved accuracy, cultural alignment, and real-world applicability.

ISSAI looks forward to collaborating with countries around the world to advance AI innovation and research excellence for AI for Good and AI for Humanity. The Institute was honored to contribute to NU Embassy Day 2025 and remains committed to deepening international partnerships through cutting-edge AI research and innovation.
