Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan on Social Issues Alexey Tsoi visited Nazarbayev University on March 5 to learn about the university’s research activities and scientific infrastructure, including projects developed by the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI).
During the visit, the presidential advisor toured several research facilities at the university and met with university leadership. He was introduced to laboratories working in genomic and personalized medicine, energy storage systems, and electron microscopy, as well as research initiatives in artificial intelligence developed by ISSAI.
From the ISSAI side, Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov and Deputy Director of Product and External Affairs Amina Baikenova presented the institute and its AI models, highlighting ISSAI’s work in developing advanced artificial intelligence technologies and their potential applications.
The NU leadership presented the university’s major academic and research achievements and emphasized the role of interdisciplinary research centers in advancing Kazakhstan’s scientific and technological capacity.
At the conclusion of the visit, participants discussed the importance of strengthening collaboration between research institutions and government stakeholders, particularly in areas strategically important for the country’s scientific and technological development.
