On September 4, 2026, ISSAI’s Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov participated in an event dedicated to the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, held under the theme “Kazakh Language: From Ancient History to Cyberspace.” The event was organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During his presentation, “The Role of the Kazakh Language in the Era of AI,” Yerbol Absalyamov spoke about ISSAI’s work in developing AI technologies for the Kazakh language and the Institute’s approach to data protection and technological sovereignty. He highlighted how developing and maintaining its own AI models and computing infrastructure enables ISSAI to support secure and locally relevant solutions.
He also discussed how ISSAI’s AI technologies and research can be applied to support government institutions, particularly through solutions that take into account the Kazakh language and the specific needs of Kazakhstan’s public sector.
Representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office highly appreciated ISSAI’s research and contribution to the development of Kazakh language technologies in AI and expressed their support for the Institute’s continued work. Mr. Yerbol Absalyamov was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Prosecutor General for his contribution to the development of the Kazakh language in artificial intelligence.
The programme also featured presentations by Akedil Toishanuly, PhD in Philology and expert at the International Turkic Academy, on the ancient Turkic written heritage; Erbol Tileshov, PhD in Philology, Alash studies scholar and Chair of the Language Policy Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, on Kazakh culture and Akhmet Baitursynuly; Kanat Samarkhanov, Associate Professor at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, on Kazakh language and geoinformation technologies; and Maksat Skakov, freelance adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the role of meaningful discourse in advancing society.
The discussions highlighted the growing role of the Kazakh language in AI and digital technologies and the importance of developing solutions that support Kazakhstan’s technological independence.
