ISSAI has upgraded its computational resources, by installing NVIDIA DGX A100 systems in ISSAI labs at Nazarbayev University (NU).

Due to the increasing number of research projects conducted by ISSAI and the demand for servers by the NU research community, the capacity of the previous NVIDIA DGX-1 and DGX-2 servers was no longer sufficient. Therefore, the NU management decided to expand the computational resources, by installing four NVIDIA DGX A100 servers. For instance, the University of Florida has 140 DGX A100 supercomputers, Cambridge University has 80 DGX A100 servers, and TU Dresden has 272 A100 supercomputers.

The NVIDIA DGX A100 serves as an essential building block of AI data centres. It uses the universal approach for any AI task and enables the consolidation of training, inference and analytics required for AI. It offers increased compute density, incorporating five petaFLOPS of AI performance into a 6U form factor. The server also provides increased compute speed by integrating eight A100 40GB GPUs. The new servers enable simpler execution of AI tasks, faster solution of complex data science problems, and easier creation of AI models with higher performance.

The installation of the new NVIDIA DGX A100 servers will expand NU’s high performance computing infrastructure, presenting new opportunities not only for ISSAI research projects, but for the entire NU research community.
