On April 7, 2026, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University held a follow-up online meeting with representatives from Ghent University to further explore potential areas of collaboration in artificial intelligence and robotics.
The meeting built on earlier discussions and brought together experts from Ghent University, including Dr. Erik Mannens, Professor of Sustainable AI and Semantics; Dr. Francis Wyffels, Professor in AI and Robotics; and Anna Sashchenko, Coordinator of the Eureast Platform. From ISSAI, participants included Yerbol Absalyamov, Executive Director; researchers Dr. Gourav Moger and Dr. Ainur Zhaikhan; as well as Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager.
During the meeting, Aigerim Sarsenova presented an overview of ISSAI, highlighting its key initiatives, research directions, and international engagement. Gourav Moger introduced ISSAI’s work in robotics, outlining ongoing research and areas of expertise.
The discussion focused on identifying concrete areas for collaboration, including joint research activities and academic exchange. As a continuation of ongoing dialogue, the meeting marked further progress toward strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
ISSAI continues to engage with international partners to advance research and innovation in artificial intelligence.
