2nd Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) Higher Education Innovation Laboratory

ISSAI Technical Project coordinator Absalyamov Yerbol participated in the 2nd Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) Higher Education Innovation Laboratory, known as ASEFInnoLab2, which took place online between 4th November and 9th December 2021. The program focuses on the role of the universities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Ecosystems.

The program was designed for managers, administrators and academics in charge of AI teaching or AI research initiatives at their universities, and who are keen to explore new ideas, exchange good practices and collaborate with peers in Asia and Europe.

Usually, the Open Call receives hundreds of applications. Only 37 applicants were selected and ISSAI Technical Project Coordinator Yerbol was one of them.

Throughout the 6-week workshop, Yerbol was expected to identify specific challenges and work on bespoke and scalable action plans. Yerbol had to develop an Action Plan Canvas methodology, similar to a Business Model Canvas, as a central tool to unlock the full potential of his work and defend it at the last week of the program. After successful defense, Yerbol was awarded with a Completion Certificate.

The ASEFInnoLab2 program gave me an opportunity to learn and exchange best practices and strategies related to the development of AI eco-system, co-create new ideas, and build bi-lateral partnerships with different institutions from across Asia and Europe”, – says Yerbol.

ASEF is an intergovernmental not-for-profit organization, which brings together people from Asia and Europe to address common global challenges.

The ASEFInnoLab2 is an opportunity for participants to exchange good practices, develop new ideas and explore areas for collaboration on the following two themes:

  • 1. Teaching and Entrepreneurship for AI Innovation Ecosystems
  • 2. Research and Technology Transfer in AI Innovation Ecosystems
