On February 3, Professor Atakan Varol, ISSAI Founding Director, participated in a panel discussion on machine learning at Digital Almaty 2024. He began his speech by defining the concepts of Small Data, Big Data, Small Compute, and Big Compute. He also highlighted the Kazakh text-to-speech and Soyle speech recognition models and showcased UMAY, a digital human prototype capable of interacting in Kazakh and English. Professor Varol emphasized the importance of developing national large language models (LLM) for Kazakhstan.
The panel session also featured presentations from renowned speakers, including international expert Fuad Allahverdiyev, KPO Integrated Reservoir modeling engineer Amir Dospayev, Head of Procurement and Supply Chain Practice at KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia Timur Akhmetov, Zypl.AI Founder and CEO Azizjon Azimi, SmartGas Global CEO Aidar Sadyrov, and Dereknet CEO Kabdulov Salamat.
