On February 13, the representative office of the Organization of Material and Technical Support under the Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Deputy Director of the UMTO Gulnar Nygymetova, Yelnur Kenesali, and Alexander Vastyanov visited the Institute Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI).
This meeting was opened by a presentation of the Institute’s research projects. Postdoctoral researcher Zhanat Makhataeva presented her work on a project involving Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on external object representation and the advancement of AR-assisted technology to aid people with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Then Deputy Director of Operations Yerbol Absalyamov demonstrated the Institute’s research works, highlighting advancements in AI for the Kazakh language, computer vision, facial recognition, and AR developments.
The representative office of the UMTO showed interest in potential collaboration with ISSAI. Deputy Director of the UMTO, Gulnar Nygymetova, shared information with the Founding Director of ISSAI, Professor Atakan Varol, about their intention to integrate AI into the work processes of the Parliament.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to first contemplate one specific task. For this task, the UMTO will provide a technical specification, and the ISSAI will explore opportunities for further cooperation.
