The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) is exploring a potential collaboration with Google to fine-tune the Gemma model for the Kazakh language, contributing to broader efforts in AI development and language technology.
The meeting brought together representatives from Google, including Ramesh Chander (Head of Google for Developers and Startups, MENAT), Dawid Ostrowski (Senior Program Manager, Developer Relations), Askar Aituov (Developer Relations Coordinator), and Olga Reis (Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy for Emerging Markets).
ISSAI was represented by General Director Atakan Varol, Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov, PR Manager Aliya Tussupova, Data Scientist Batyr Arystanbekov, and Senior External Affairs Manager Aigerim Sarsenova.
The discussion focused on potential areas for cooperation in advancing AI tools and infrastructure for the Kazakh language, aligning with national priorities in digital transformation and technological innovation.
Both sides expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to work together and support local AI capacity building.
