The President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Visited Nazarbayev University

On August 20, 2025, Akhylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, undertook an official visit to Nazarbayev University (NU).

As part of the visit, the delegation was introduced to NU’s flagship scientific developments. At the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), Executive Director Yerbol Absalaymov showcased Institute’s cutting-edge technologies : MangiSoz, Kazakhstan’s first Text-to-Speech/Speech-to-Text service which offers seamless voice and text processing in Kazakh, English, Russian, and Turkish, with auto-translation; Oylan, multilingual multimodal AI model that processes text, images, and audio in Kazakh, Russian, and English; Beynele, multilingual image generator developed by ISSAI that creates high-quality visual content based on text prompts in Kazakh, Russian, and English.

The delegation also visited the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Systems (ARMS) Laboratory, where they were introduced to the latest projects in robotics, autonomous systems, and applied mechatronics. These developments demonstrated NU’s strong foundation in applied engineering and interdisciplinary research.

During the visit, Akhylbek Kurishbayev met with Professor Waqar Ahmad, President of NU, where the parties discussed strengthening cooperation in science, technology, and innovation. Following the discussions, the sides expressed support for the initiative to establish a Joint Institute of New Energy Technologies and Materials (INETM) at NU and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding.

ISSAI consistently adheres to the policy of supporting the initiatives of Nazarbayev University and the National Academy of Sciences, contributing its expertise and resources to advancing science and developing practical, high-impact projects for Kazakhstan and the wider region.
