ISSAI Presents AI Solutions at Nura District Akimat Meeting on the President’s Address

On September 18, 2025, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University participated in a meeting organized by the Nura District Akimat of Astana. The event was attended by representatives of local executive authorities, municipal service departments, educational institutions, and research organizations. Among the distinguished participants were Rishat Turdybekov, Akim of Nura District of Astana, and Natalia Dementieva, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the 7th–8th convocations from the Amanat party list. The meeting focused on the key areas of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Address to the Nation, “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Their Solutions through Digital Transformation.”

ISSAI’s General Director, Dr. Huseyin Atakan Varol, delivered a speech highlighting the Institute’s role in advancing Kazakhstan’s AI ecosystem. He emphasized ISSAI’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that directly address national priorities outlined in the President’s Address.

ISSAI Executive Director, Yerbol Absalyamov, showcased a range of AI products developed by the Institute and presented recommendations for applying AI in several critical sectors:

– Housing and Communal Utilities Services: A Geospatial Language-Vision Model can serve as an AI agent analyzing satellite images to detect pipelines, power lines, sewage systems, heating networks, and rooftop solar panels.
– Water Management: AI models for predicting floods and encouraging water conservation.
– Healthcare: A Medical Language-Vision Model capable of interpreting X-rays, CT scans, and skin condition images to support doctors in diagnostics.
– Education: AI-generated avatars, including ISSAI’s demo avatar Aibike, that assist teachers by providing additional tutoring in Kazakh, Russian, and other languages, and automating administrative tasks like grading and lesson planning.

Beyond these, ISSAI is prepared to contribute AI-driven solutions in safe and efficient mining, agriculture (crop yield and land quality monitoring), transportation and logistics, migration control, and promotion of Kazakhstani cultural and social heritage.

The meeting also featured a live demonstration of ISSAI’s real-time subtitle service, TilSync, which translated speeches into Kazakh, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for the audience.

With these initiatives, ISSAI reaffirms its role as a key national contributor to integrating AI into critical sectors and supporting Kazakhstan’s digital transformation agenda.
