Astana, September 27 — Nazarbayev University hosted its NU Open House Day, welcoming more than 14 000 of prospective students and their families to campus for a full day of discovery. The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) took an active role with a dedicated booth, hands-on demos, and engaging activities designed to introduce visitors to the institute’s research and academic opportunities.
At the ISSAI stand, data scientists presented the institute’s flagship AI products and answered questions about real-world applications across language, vision, and speech technologies. Guests also learned about the Summer Research Program (SRP)—an immersive training experience that equips high-school and university students with practical skills in AI, machine learning, and programming.
To make the learning experience interactive, ISSAI ran a quiz on AI fundamentals, where participants earned collectible stickers according to the Open House Day rules. In addition to the sticker challenge, visitors received branded prizes from ISSAI.
Guests also had a chance to speak with Aibike, ISSAI’s AI avatar, and to test Microsoft HoloLens 2 – Augmented Reality Goggles, experiencing how augmented reality and conversational AI can support education and public services. Throughout the day, visitors showed strong curiosity and enthusiasm, engaging ISSAI staff with thoughtful questions about research pathways, student opportunities, and future careers in AI.
