…The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University held an online meeting with representatives from Ghent University (Belgium) to discuss potential cooperation in artificial intelligence and robotics research.
The Ghent University delegation included Dr. Erik Mannens, Sustainable AI and Semantics Professor, and Anna Sashchenko. The ISSAI team was represented by Prof. Huseyin Atakan Varol, General Director; Yerbol Absalyamov, Executive Director; Alaidar Amirseiit, Government Relations Manager; and Aliya Tussupova, PR Manager.
During the meeting, ISSAI GR Manager Alaidar Amirseiit delivered a presentation introducing ISSAI’s mission, applied AI initiatives, and the Institute’s latest research in robotics. Dr. Mannens expressed high regard for ISSAI’s research and accomplishments, noting the impact of its current projects.
The discussion focused on potential collaboration between Ghent University and Nazarbayev University in several key areas, including collaborative efforts in AI and robotics research and future scientific article publications; exploring using AI for school education and curriculum development; and opportunities to cooperate on joint projects and research initiatives.
Both sides expressed strong interest in establishing sustainable academic partnerships and advancing cooperation in AI research, robotics, and higher education development. The meeting took place during the Year of Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan, highlighting the country’s focus on advancing AI development and international cooperation in emerging technologies.
