On March 31, 2026, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) hosted a meeting with representatives of the Health Insurance Fund of Kazakhstan to discuss opportunities for collaboration and the application of AI technologies in the healthcare sector.
The Social Health Insurance Fund, established in 2016, plays a key role in implementing Kazakhstan’s compulsory social health insurance system by financing medical services, monitoring quality, and ensuring accessibility of healthcare for the population.
The Fund’s delegation included Aidar Mekebekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board; Indira Erdenova, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board; and Aidar Abeuov, Advisor.
From ISSAI, the meeting was attended by Yerbol Absalyamov, Executive Director; Amina Baikenova, Acting Deputy Director of Product and External Affairs; Daulet Aliyev, Legal Counsel; and Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager.
As part of the meeting, Alaidar Amirseiit, Government Relations Manager at ISSAI, delivered a presentation showcasing the institute’s flagship AI developments and ongoing initiatives. The presentation highlighted ISSAI’s capabilities in building sovereign AI solutions, including tools for document understanding, multimodal analysis, and domain-specific applications.
Particular attention was given to the potential of AI to support the Fund’s operations, such as optimizing the medical services and enhancing data analysis.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing interest in further exploring joint initiatives and pilot projects aimed at leveraging AI to support the continued development of Kazakhstan’s healthcare ecosystem.
