On July 31, 2026, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) welcomed representatives of ANGLO REM Exploration Mining (AREMCA) to discuss potential collaboration in the application of artificial intelligence to the mining and critical minerals sector.
ANGLO REM Exploration Mining Ltd. is a technology-driven company that applies advanced technologies to academic research and mineral exploration, with the goal of increasing the supply of critical minerals in Central Asia to support the global energy transition.
The AREMCA delegation included Afzal Amin, Chief Executive Officer; Gulzhanat Ualitova, Managing Director; and Aliya Nurmanova, Operations Manager.
Representing ISSAI were Dr. Huseyin Atakan Varol, General Director; Yerbol Absalyamov, Executive Director; Ulzhan Alibek, External Affairs Manager; Adema Sharipova, Junior Data Scientist; Olagunju Sakiru Olarewaju, Research Assistant; and Arailym Raikhankyzy, Research Assistant.
During the meeting, both organizations presented their ongoing research initiatives and technological developments. The presentations were followed by a productive discussion on potential areas of collaboration, with particular focus on the application of artificial intelligence in geology, mineral exploration, geospatial data analysis, and multi-robot systems for autonomous operations.
The meeting highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between academia and industry in addressing complex real-world challenges. By combining ISSAI’s expertise in artificial intelligence with AREMCA’s experience in exploration and critical minerals, both organizations identified promising opportunities for future joint research and innovation.
