On September 28, as part of AI Week and Digital Bridge 2026, Qaz.AI organised the roundtable “AI and DeepTech in Kazakhstan: Barriers and Growth Opportunities” at Astana Hub. Ulzhan Alibek, External Affairs Manager at the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), Nazarbayev University, participated in the discussion.
The roundtable brought together representatives of government, business, technology companies and the legislative sector to discuss the practical challenges facing Kazakhstan’s AI and DeepTech ecosystem and identify ways to improve conditions for developing, piloting, implementing and scaling technological solutions.
The discussion featured Alibek Sailanbayev, Managing Director of JSC National Information Technologies; Alibek Narimbayev, CEO of Biometric Vision; Sarsen Zhanabekov, Head of Astana Data Exchange Ltd.; Zhandos Sakhov, Director of the Smart Region Department at the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Diana Mailikhanova, CEO of EPIQ AI; and Kurultai Members Tilektes Adambekov and Almat Zhukebayev.
The roundtable provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views on regulatory, infrastructure, data and market-related challenges and discuss concrete measures to support the growth of Kazakhstan’s AI and DeepTech sector.
