ISSAI researcher Tolegen Akhmetov completed a training at Tokai University, Tokyo

ISSAI and ARMS researcher Tolegen Akhmetov completed a Computer Vision for Augmented Reality training at Tokai University, Tokyo. The aim of Tolegen’s visit was to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices in a field of computer vision and augmented and virtual reality, as well as to collaborate with Tokai University.

During the training Mr. Akhmetov worked with Dr. Kazuhiko Hamamoto, Professor of the Department of Information Media Technology, and his lab members. The lab specializes in conducting research in the field of VR.

Tolegen acquired new skills and training in programming for various head-mounted displays such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift 2, Varjo 2, Magic Leap, Nreal and other devices like Geomagic Touch and CAVE systems. As part of his training, he also visited the company AVR Japan, which develops various AR and VR projects for local and international organizations.

“I liked the working process and admired the passion for work of my Japanese colleagues. I was able to visit several exhibitions like the Japan Robot Week, Japan IT Week, Metaverse Expo Tokyo, XR Fair Tokyo, AI Expo Tokyo, Blockchain Expo Tokyo, and Quantum Computing Expo Tokyo. All these events were organized by the local academia and industrial organizations. Thanks to this opportunity, I was able to learn a lot about the innovative approaches and solutions in robotics, IT, and extended reality (XR)”, – says Tolegen.

Tolegen was also able to present his research project entitled “An Augmented Reality-Based Warning System for Enhanced Safety in Industrial Settings” at Tokai University Takanawa Campus.
