Today, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) hosted a meeting with Prof. Peiwu Qin, Associate Professor at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School. Prof. Qin specializes in biomedical engineering, with a particular focus on the development of imaging systems, the application of AI in medical diagnosis and prognosis, and the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern technologies.
The meeting focused on exploring potential research collaborations in areas of mutual interest. From ISSAI, participants included Dr. Atakan Varol, Founding Director of ISSAI; Dr. Mei-Yen Chan, Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, Nazarbayev University; and Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager.
Aigerim Sarsenova delivered a general presentation on ISSAI’s mission, research focus areas, and recent achievements. Prof. Mei-Yen Chan also shared details of her current research project titled “Improved Food Image Recognition by Leveraging Deep Learning and Data-Driven Methods with an Application to the Central Asian Food Scene.”
The exchange sparked engaging discussion on possible joint initiatives in biomedical AI, smart diagnostic systems, and region-specific healthcare applications. ISSAI looks forward to building a meaningful partnership and fostering international research collaboration in the field of intelligent systems for healthcare.
