TilSync Makes Its Debut at NU Annual Research Conference 2025

Astana, September 17, 2025 — Today, the NU Annual Research Conference 2025 opened at Nazarbayev University, bringing together hundreds of researchers, scholars, students, schoolchildren, and experts from Kazakhstan and abroad. The three-day conference, held from September 17–19 under the theme “Empowering Innovation: Nurturing Kazakhstan’s Next-Gen Researchers”, emphasizes the importance of faculty engagement and hands-on experience in shaping the next generation of innovators.

For the first time at a major scientific event, TilSync, a new desktop application developed by the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), was introduced and demonstrated in action. During keynote speeches, attendees in the conference hall witnessed live translation from English into Kazakh displayed directly on the screen, showcasing TilSync’s capacity to make academic events more inclusive and accessible.

TilSync is designed to transcribe and translate live speech into subtitles in real time, with support for Kazakh, Russian, and English. The subtitles can be displayed over any open application, making the tool particularly valuable for public events, academic lectures, conferences, and other multilingual settings.

Key features of TilSync include:

  • Live Speech-to-Text
  • Automatic Translation
  • Subtitles displayed over any application
  • Support for Kazakh, Russian, and English
  • Designed for multilingual events and accessibility

In addition to enhancing inclusivity, TilSync provides a cost-efficient alternative to traditional simultaneous interpretation services, offering comparable accessibility while significantly reducing event expenses.

The NU Annual Research Conference continues until September 19, providing a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and inspiring Kazakhstan’s next generation of researchers. TilSync will continue to be used during both keynote speeches and panel sessions to provide real-time multilingual support.
