Since 2021, ISSAI has been proudly organizing the Summer Research Program (SRP) for talented students from Kazakhstan and around the world. This program provides participants with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, data algorithms, and related fields. Participants will collaborate closely with ISSAI’s data scientists and researchers, offering a unique chance to deepen their understanding of cutting-edge technologies.
This year, 41 high school students and 22 university students have joined the Summer Research Program 2025, out of an applicant pool of 595. They gained invaluable experience and knowledge in the fields of artificial intelligence, programming, and machine learning and other related fields. This year’s SRP brought together talented students from a wide range of institutions. Among the international universities represented are Yonsei University, KAIST, Uzbekistan New University, MBZUAI and Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. Kazakhstan’s universities are represented by students from Nazarbayev University, Kazakh British Technical University, Suleyman Demirel University, Astana IT University, Korkyt Ata University, Manash Kozybayev University, and Shakarim University of Semey, as well as West Kazakhstan Agro-Technical University named after Zhangir Khan. In addition, high school students from across the country joined us — including participants from Bilim-Innovation Lyceum, Nazarbayev Intellectual School, National School of Physics and Mathematics, Nurorda, Astana Garden School, Haileybury, and several other outstanding schools of Kazakhstan.
We extend our thanks to mentors of our Summer Research Program 2025 — leading data scientists and engineers from ISSAI who dedicate their time and expertise to guiding the next generation of researchers: Dr. Zhanat Makhataeva, Dr. Azamat Yeshmukhametov, Anuar Aryngazin, Rassul Yermagambet, Akylbek Maxutov, Vladimir Albrekht, Nartay Aikyn, Tomiris Rakhimzhanova, and Aibota Sanatbek. Their mentorship is at the heart of the program’s success.
On July 10, ISSAI celebrated the successful completion of its five-week Summer Research Program 2025 for high- school students. The program brought together 41 talented participants from leading schools across Kazakhstan, offering them an immersive, hands-on experience in artificial intelligence, programming, robotics, and cutting-edge research. The program officially began on June 9 and was structured into two major components: Theory and Practice. The first week featured intensive masterclasses by ISSAI’s top researchers on topics such as language models, computer vision, generative AI, and model optimization.
Following the theoretical foundation, students selected their specialized tracks and spent four weeks working under the guidance of ISSAI researchers on individual and group research projects. The projects covered diverse domains such as Robotics, DevOps, MLOps, Avatars, LLMs, and Speech-to-Text systems.

On July 31, ISSAI at Nazarbayev University celebrated the successful completion of its 2025 Summer Research Program — a nine-week intensive research experience that brought together talented undergraduate students from Kazakhstan and abroad. The highlight of the day was the final project showcase, where each team presented the outcomes of their summer research program. Students summarized their progress, shared key learnings, and demonstrated the practical applications of their research across various fields of AI, robotics, and software development.
