ISSAI Welcomes Unitree Robotics Delegation

On January 30, 2026, Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University was visited by representatives of Unitree Robotics. The delegation included Xiaoli Chen, Director for the Asia-Pacific region at Unitree Robotics and an early core member of the company, Bi Chunyue, Regional Manager at Unitree Robotics, Nurdaulet Dosmagambet, Director of KERNEU Group and official representative of Unitree Robotics, as well as Asylbek Murzakhmet, Head of the Robotics and Engineering Development Fund “USTEM FOUNDATION”.

During the visit, Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager at ISSAI, presented the institute’s ongoing work and research directions. Dr. Azamat Yeshmukhametov, Head of the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory, and Research Assistant Gourav Moger introduced the laboratory’s projects and capabilities in robotics and intelligent systems.

The visiting delegation also expressed strong interest in the work of the Human-Robot Interaction Lab. This lab focuses on human-centered research addressing socially important applications, including sign language recognition, autism therapy, and technology-enhanced learning.

The discussion highlighted the crucial role of large language models (LLMs) in the development of advanced robotic systems. The guests expressed strong interest in the research being conducted at ISSAI and across Nazarbayev University.

Executive Director of ISSAI Yerbol Absalyamov emphasized that the institute is open to international collaborations. The delegation was impressed by the scope and quality of research at Nazarbayev University and showed interest in exploring potential areas of cooperation.
