ISSAI Presents AI Innovations at “Shoqan Readings” Conference in Kokshetau

The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) participated as a key speaker at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Shoqan Readings”, held under the theme “New Horizons of Science and Education in the Age of AI” and organized by Kokshetau University named after Sh. Ualikhanov.

ISSAI’s participation was in recognition of the Institute’s achievements in developing generative AI technologies for the Kazakh language and education, as well as the successful joint project conducted with Ualikhanov University in the previous year.

ISSAI was represented by Executive Director Yerbol Absalyamov and Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Ainur Zhaikhan, who were invited as plenary session speakers. Their presentations highlighted ISSAI’s core models and research, with a particular focus on applications in education and the technical outcomes of the joint agricultural project conducted in collaboration with Ualikhanov University. The audience showed strong interest in ISSAI’s work and responded positively to the Institute’s achievements and practical implementations.

The plenary session brought together representatives from leading educational and technological organizations, including the Akimat of the Aqmola region, as well as prominent professors, researchers, and international experts from institutions such as the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics (Almaty), Estonian University of Life Sciences, Simon Fraser University (Canada), Ufa University of Science and Technology (Russia), and the University of Warsaw (Poland). Speakers shared practical experiences in applying AI across diverse domains, including inclusive education, linguistics, sociology, digital learning, forest monitoring, agriculture, and multi-agent reinforcement learning in education.

As part of the keynote session, ISSAI also delivered a joint presentation with Dr. Marden Baidalin of Ualikhanov University, focusing on the collaborative project on the application of digitalization and AI in forage crop cultivation in the Aqmola region. The presentation outlined the origins of the collaboration, project objectives, and key challenges, as well as methodologies for data collection and processing. It also covered model development and training, along with the design and deployment of the project’s web-based platform.

Following the conference, ISSAI representatives were invited to visit the Digital Aqmola Hub, operated by the Digital and IT Department of the Aqmola Region’s Akimat. During the visit, the team was introduced to a regional digital monitoring platform that provides real-time data on urban infrastructure, agricultural land use, crop conditions, and other key indicators.

The visit and conference discussions resulted in several promising outcomes. Ualikhanov University expressed its intention to continue collaboration with ISSAI on joint scientific projects. International participants also showed interest in future partnerships, while the Akimat of the Aqmola region indicated its willingness to explore the use of ISSAI’s Playground and educational initiatives in regional programs.
