On May 28, 2026, following the official meeting between the Ministries of Kazakhstan and Vietnam on strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital government, and digital transformation, a Vietnamese delegation visited the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University to explore potential collaboration in AI research and education.
The delegation included Prof. Dang Hoai Bac, President of Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT); Dr. Pham Vu Minh Tu, Director of the Center of International Education at PTIT; Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology Management & International Cooperation; Dr. Vu Hoai Nam, Vice Director of the Center of Excellence for AI Training; and Dr. Dinh Truong Duy, Senior Researcher in Cybersecurity.
The guests were welcomed by Dr. Atakan Varol, General Director of ISSAI, Dr. Tun Duc Do, Professor of Robotics at Nazarbayev University, Aigerim Sarsenova, Senior External Affairs Manager, and Ulzhan Alibek, External Affairs Manager.
During the meeting, the ISSAI team presented the institute’s key projects and research directions in artificial intelligence. Ulzhan Alibek demonstrated ISSAI Playground and showcased the capabilities of AI-powered speech and language technologies developed by ISSAI.
The Vietnamese delegation also shared their ongoing work and research initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, including AI education. The discussions focused on opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, and talent development in AI.
The delegation highly praised ISSAI’s achievements and noted that the institute has some of the strongest expertise in artificial intelligence in Central Asia. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening academic and research ties and exploring future collaborative projects in the rapidly developing field of AI.
