On September 17, 2026, the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the first open session of Qazaqstan AI for Science, dedicated to the development of a new paradigm for the full scientific cycle and the integration of artificial intelligence into scientific research.
The session brought together representatives of government institutions, research organisations, universities, technology companies, and the scientific community to discuss the application of AI across different fields, including robotics, medicine, water resources, and industrial technologies.
ISSAI was represented by Dr. Azamat Yeshmukhametov, Head of the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory and Assistant Professor at the Nazarbayev University School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, who delivered a presentation titled “AI in Robotics.”
Dr. Azamat’s presentation focused on the potential integration of Qolda, ISSAI’s compact language-vision model, into humanoid robots to enable natural interaction in the Kazakh language. Qolda is designed to support the Kazakh language and can operate on resource-efficient devices, creating opportunities for its application in autonomous and embodied AI systems.
The participation of ISSAI highlighted the role of robotics and AI in advancing Kazakhstan’s scientific and technological ecosystem and demonstrated practical pathways for connecting locally developed AI models with intelligent robotic platforms.
