The prestigious American financial and economic magazine Forbes interviewed Dr. Ilesanmi Adesida, who is currently Acting President of Nazarbayev University. The reason for this interview was NU’s recent recognition as the leading and its inclusion in THE World University Rankings 2024. Among 165 evaluated universities across several categories, our university secured the top position among 89 institutions in Central Asia.

In the interview with the popular Forbes edition, Professor Adesida highlighted the evolution of NU as a global hub for international research, emphasizing the activities of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems (ISSAI), established within NU. ISSAI aims to become a pivotal force for innovation and research in the field of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.

“The ISSAI is working very hard, and we want to choose areas in AI that are most impactful in the region. We can use this to attract the best young local talent so we don’t lose them to other countries, and they can then help us build the pool that Kazakhstan needs to start really applying AI to industry,” – commented  Dr. Adesida.

Mention of ISSAI in legendary magazines like Forbes is also a sort of high recognition of the institute team’s work. In 2024, we’ll keep bringing talents together and developing national projects using artificial intelligence.
