From April 14 to 28, 2025, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University welcomed two master’s students — Nazerke Karim and Madiyar Kozhamzharov, both from Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University — for an intensive internship at the Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics Systems Laboratory (ARMS).
Throughout the internship, the students engaged closely with cutting-edge technologies in robotics and mechatronics. They applied theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, gaining hands-on experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks), 3D printing technologies (Bambu Lab Mini), Arduino platforms, and Dynamixel smart motors.
Nazerke Karim focused on designing and prototyping a robotic platform featuring a differential drive system. Her work involved 3D modeling structural components, fabricating prototypes with a 3D printer, assembling hardware, and programming basic autonomous navigation algorithms. This practical experience enhanced her skills in robotics system design and integration.
Meanwhile, Madiyar Kozhamzharov completed a comprehensive program combining academic and scientific work. He designed and developed a functional robot prototype, mastering microcontroller programming, 3D modeling, and rapid prototyping techniques. His efforts highlighted ARMS Lab’s efficient development approach, which emphasizes the seamless integration of digital design and physical implementation.
The internship was conducted under the mentorship of Azamat Yeshmukhametov, Head of the ARMS, who provided expert guidance and support throughout the students’ projects.
Upon successful completion of the program, both students were awarded internship certificates in recognition of their achievements and acquired skills in robotics and mechatronics.
