On August 3, 2026, Nazarbayev University announced the establishment of the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), marking an important step in expanding the University’s capacity in artificial intelligence, computing, and digital technologies.

The new School is expected to strengthen interdisciplinary education and research while supporting the development of highly qualified specialists in AI and related fields. Under the leadership of Dr. Atakan Varol, SCAI will contribute to advancing research, innovation, and international collaboration in one of the fastest-growing areas of science and technology.

The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) welcomes the establishment of the new School and looks forward to working closely with SCAI. Through joint research projects, academic initiatives, and industry partnerships, the two organizations aim to advance cutting-edge AI research, educate future experts, and contribute to the continued growth of Kazakhstan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.
