In the mid of September 2023 ISSAI had visitors from various regional universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the visit our Data Scientist Aknur Karabay presented the Institute’s research works which included AI technologies for the Kazakh language, computer vision, medical AI, and augmented reality.
Postdoctoral scholar Dr. Azamat Yeshmukhametov presented tensegrity robots research projects. The tensegrity robots are an emerging technology that combines the principles of tensegrity structures with robotics. They are highly adaptable and can be used for a range of applications, including exploration, inspection, and monitoring.
ISSAI researcher Zhanat Makhataeva presented her project “Augmented Reality-Based Human Memory Enhancement Using AI”. She explained the operation of different components of the AR system such as ArUco marker-based user localization indoors and object recognition. Her system can help to reduce the cognitive load people experience in spatial tasks that require spatial and object location memory. Her studies pave the way for the development of AR-based assistive technologies for individuals with memory impairments (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease).
Provosts were impressed with the visit to Nazarbayev University and ISSAI in particular. Guests asked questions regarding the activities of the Institute, barriers in research and potential application of the AI models.
