Last week ISSAI Founding Director visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) as a member of the Nazarbayev University (NU) delegation headed by Acting President Ilesanmi Adesida. During this visit, a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions was signed.
Dr. Varol gave an interesting lecture entitled “Augmented Reality and AI for the Next Generation Wearables: Applications in Assistive Technologies and Industrial Safety”. The lecture received widespread interest from UIUC faculty members, researchers, and students.
During the visit, Prof. Varol had the opportunity to visit the Grainger School of Engineering, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the Coordinated Science Laboratory, the Holonyak Micro & Nanotechnology Lab, and the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Prof. Varol engaged in fruitful discussions with UIUC faculty members and explored collaboration possibilities.
