ISSAI Hosts Guest Lecture by Professor Paul Kim on AI and the Future of Education

On September 30, 2026, the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University hosted a guest lecture by Professor Paul Kim, a member of the Presidential AI Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Executive Director of AI-SANA. He previously served as Associate Dean and Chief Technology Officer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education, where he worked at the intersection of AI, education, and technology.

His presentation, titled “AI and the Future of Education,” explored how artificial intelligence is transforming education, work, and entrepreneurship. Professor Kim discussed agentic AI and how education can prepare learners for an AI-driven economy, with an emphasis on developing the skills needed to work with AI systems and create new opportunities.

He also presented AI-SANA as a platform for developing Kazakhstan’s AI-powered entrepreneurship pipeline, highlighting the importance of moving beyond AI training toward practical projects, entrepreneurship, and scalable innovation ecosystems.

The lecture also covered educational projects and approaches aimed at helping learners become creators and entrepreneurs in the emerging AI economy.

The event attracted members of the Nazarbayev University community, including students, faculty members, researchers, and representatives of ISSAI and the NU School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence (SCAI).

The lecture provided an opportunity for the NU community to explore the changing role of education in the AI era and the skills, entrepreneurship, and innovation ecosystems needed to prepare learners for the future.
